Background

The company was founded in 1998 by Janne Kyllonen, a Finnish entrepreneur who lived and worked in St.Petersburg (Russia) since 1994. He was often addressed by people with requests concerning the purchase of fish, clothes, furniture, phone systems, copying machines, computers, faxes, shoes, juices, dairy products, etc. abroad. This growing interest ignited the development of the Eurux Company concept.

The idea was to collect all offers for purchase and sale into a single database that would be available to interested companies through the Internet. The huge growth of electronic marketplaces in the USA in 1999-2000 inspired the Eurux development team and gave them high hopes for the future. 2001 showed that expensive marketplace software that had been developed in the USA could not be implemented effectively in Europe due to its high cost and incompatibility with the European market structure.

Since Eurux started out as a small company, it did not have huge investment capitals at its disposal. The company always had to keep a close eye on company expenditure and therefore perfectly understands the challenges SMEs face.

The name Eurux has been registered as a trademark and in 2001 the company became a Joint Stock Company (JSC). At present, the company is owned by its founders. However, being the first Finnish company dealing with software development in Russia, Eurux has signed option agreements with several proficient software engineers and marketing professionals. Furthermore, the company is negotiating with Finnish and foreign investors to obtain funding in order to speed up the development of its activities.
